As you all know, Hurricane Dorian is churning over the Bahamas and the early reports are that it is causing devastation like the island has never seen. At the moment, we are watching the situation and preparing our response. We don't quite know what to expect yet, but we are in constant contact with our partner relief organizations; many of which are already staging initial relief response.
From what we can see, the early efforts are going to require significant air support using a force of light aircraft dispatched from Eastern Florida. HLP is prepared to launch operations using 6-9 seat "light twins" as soon as conditions permit.
The first challenge will be locating suitable landing locations and establishing a ground support network. This will take time, but we expect to be operational in the coming 4-5 days.
I will keep you posted!
